Our Government
Abkhazia is a constitutional republic with an executive branch headed by a president, a legislative branch with a national Parliament, and a judicial system with a Supreme Court. Abkhazia allows a high degree of federalism and local autonomy within its national structure.
The current president of Abkhazia is Sergei Bagapsh.
The current speaker of the parliament is Nugzar Ashuba.
The Constitution of Abkhazia was adopted November 26, 1994 and approved by popular vote October 3, 1999.
